Wallace J Nichols is currently hosting BlueMind3 on Block Island off Rhode Island this week. His focus is bringing together Ocean Advocates and neuroscientists as well as water, ocean, and outdoor professionals in the field of neuroscience and psychology.
Nichols explains, “We are exploring the role of water in cognitive development, play, learning, and well-being, along with many other new and recurring Blue Mind themes.”
Dr. Nichols is a scientist, activist, community organizer and author who works to inspire a deeper connection with nature. “J” is a Research Associate at the California Academy of Sciences and a former Regional Vice Chair of the IUCN Marine Turtle Specialist Group. He currently advises a group of dedicated and energetic graduate students at universities in both Mexico and the U.S. as part of his commitment to building a stronger, more progressive and connected environmental community.
