California State University, Long Beach Marine Biology staff and students are deploying Remote Underwater Video Systems with GoPro cameras to identify and record Great White Sharks that are spending a lot of time around the coastline of Southern California, specifically in Huntington Beach.

It is important to be able to identify these sharks because we’re trying to see what they’re doing and where they’re moving,” says senior biology major Sarah Loungo from the CSULB Shark Lab. “They have very different patterns. They have scars or chunks taken out of their fins. It is important to identify these sharks in order to learn what they’re doing and where they’re moving.”
