Adam Skolnick wrote a comprehensive article on Antonio Argüelles and his achievement of the Oceans Seven here (In a Swimmer’s Two-Year Quest, a Final 21-Mile Challenge).
In the article, Argüelles talked about how long he has been after his athletic goals. “Three times in my life,” he told Skolnick on his escort boat heading back to Donaghadee after his 13 hour 32 minute crossing of the North Channel at the age of 58, “I have been this well prepared for an event: the Olympic trials in 1976 and 1980 and today. I never made the Olympics, but today I redeemed myself.”
