Igor Nenko, a swimmer from Ukraine, describes the inspiration of Sri Chinmoy, “His extraordinary achievements in sport and his tireless work inspired people all over the world to transcend their personal limits through sport including marathon swimming.
Sri Chinmoy founded the Sri Chinmoy Marathon Team in 1977. His vision, inspiration, encouragement and intuition were the guiding force behind its growth into what is today the world’s largest organizer of endurance events including the 26.4K International Self-Transcendence Marathon-Schwimmen. His innate understanding of the limitless potential that lies within each one of us led him to conceive of endurance events that to others seemed beyond the bounds of human possibility.” His integral approach to life encourages physical fitness and sports as a vehicle for personal transformation.
