The 1927 Lake George Marathon Swim

Lake George in New York was site of a famous professional marathon swim in 1927 and will be the location of the 2014 U.S. Masters Swimming 10 km Open Water Swimming Championship next August hosted by Green Leaf Racing

It has been reported that over 100,000 spectators watched winner Edward Keating and 140 other competitors in the 1927 professional race. on Lake George.

Although the reported number of spectators may be a bit generous, there historical recollection of the event is a fascinating article (posted here).
