His Excellency The Governor Duncan Taylor of the Cayman Islands ran in the soft white sand of Seven Mile Beach to the start of the Flowers International 5 km event. Googles, swimsuit, and cap. Voilà! The Governor was ready to go. And then he ran back to the Governor’s Residence after the inaugural 5 km swim.
Talk about tough.
But he may just simply enjoy the gorgeously beautiful soft sands of Grand Cayman before he moves to Mexico.
Governor Taylor was recently appointed Her Majesty’s Ambassador to Mexico and will take up his appointment in September 2013. On his appointment as Her Majesty’s Ambassador to Mexico, the quickest open water swimming Ambassador remarked, “I am honoured and delighted to have been appointed Ambassador to Mexico, a beautiful, vibrant and dynamic country. The UK has a rich and friendly relationship with Mexico. I look forward greatly to helping to develop that relationship across the board with one of our most important bilateral partners.”
