Hannah Smith, a 21-year-old fourth-year medical student from Glasgow, Scotland, is aiming to become the fastest person to swim across the Little Minch (formerly known as Scotland’s fjord).
“I decided that this was the perfect year to attempt what has been a longstanding dream of mine: to swim across the Minch.”
“It is 15 miles from Skye on the mainland to the Isle of Harris, Outer Hebrides. I am from Uig, which is on the west coast of the Isle of Lewis – the most northerly Outer Hebridie, in 13°C water,” said Hannah. “I am also fundraising for two charities – Breast Cancer Care and The Leanne Fund – which are national and local charities respectively.”
