After recovering from open heart surgery, 66-year-old Nejib Belhedi of Tunisia has been completing longer and more difficult open water swims.
Since last year, he has planned, prepared and trained for a 120 km swim from Sfax to Djerba Island in his native Tunisia.
Between Saturday September 15th morning and Tuesday the 18th, Belhedi swam in the Mediterranean Sea for 76 hours 30 minutes in his Sfax to Djerba Marathon Swim that was nominated for the 2018 World Open Water Swimming Performance of the Year award along with the following individuals, listed alphabetically:
