It has been a big year – a productive and enjoyable year – for the Wild Swimming Brothers.

The Wild Swimming Brothers‘ first book, Swim Wild written by Little Brother Jack with contributions and illustrations from Middle Brother Calum and Big Brother Robbie, is available on Amazon [see here].

Jack explains, “Swim Wild is a book about our wild swimming adventures together, from travelling into the Arctic Circle to swim across the two most powerful maelstroms in the world (Saltstraumen and Moskstraumen) to spending nine days swimming the length of our childhood river, the Eden, in Cumbria. We hope that this book encourages you to go on your own adventures, to get back in touch with the natural world and to live more creatively.

Since before I could write, I used to tell our mum/stenographer weird fairy-tales to jot down in crayon, I always dreamed of one day publishing a story. There have been a few dramatic bouts of dream-assessment along the way.

Standing on a dirty concrete bridge in Newcastle, watching the passing cars, I told myself I’ve got two options in life: ‘Either you die a published writer, or you die being someone who gave it everything you’ve got…Either way, you win.‘”

The Wild Swimming Brothers nomination for the 2017 World Open Water Swimming Performance of the Year reads, “The Wild Swimming Brothers – Calum, Jack, and Robbie Hudson – are adventure-seeking adrenaline junkies who pursue aquatic challenges in risk-taking locations. They take a different spin on the sport of open water swimming than hardened bioprene solo channel swimmers or elite competitive swimmers racing in closed flat-water circuits. The Hudson Brothers embody the spirit of wild swimming and enjoying challenging epic swims in various open bodies of water around their native Great Britain and across the globe. They launched a new YouTube channel aimed at wild swimming, both for veterans and newcomers of this exciting, exploding niche. They were nominated for creating entertaining videos and short stories from their expeditions and tours of their jaw-dropping aquatic journeys, for providing tips and advice on how to get into and enjoy wild swimming, and for bringing their extroverted personalities to add color, humor and excitement to wild swimming.”
