Today, Diego López Dominguez became the first person from the Canary Islands to complete the Triple Crown of Open Water Swimming with his 11 hour 15 minute crossing of the Catalina Channel.
Widely known as the Global Swimmer, he is one of the most prolific and popular swimmers on the international scene.
But his journey is not over. He will compete in the Clean Half Extreme Marathon Swim in Hong Kong on October 6th and then will speak at the Royal Geographical Society on October 11th.
Doug Woodring explains, “All of his efforts [in the open water] are to help the health of the ocean and our work at Ocean Recovery Alliance.”
