44-year-old Angela Maurer of Germany won yet another professional marathon swim. This time, the International Marathon Swimming Hall of Famer finished ahead of 16-year-old Vasiliki Kadoglu of Bulgaria and 18-year-old Antonia Buličić of Croatia in the 16 km Faros Maratón in Stari Grad Bay, Croatia on September 10th – and finished 2nd overall.

Maurer, who won the 20 km FINA UltraMarathon Swim Series in Novi, Croatia two weeks earlier and has a child, wrote, “Faros is my favorite competition. It can’t run better. Thanks to my coach and husband Nikolai Evseev.”

Another veteran – 59-year-old dual International Marathon Swimming Hall of Fame and International Swimming Hall of Fame inductee Irene van der Laan – finished 7th as she continues the longest-running professional marathon swimming career in history.
