Jonathan Goldsmith is a model who is featured in “the world’s most interesting man” ad campaign that first began appearing in the United States in 2006.
The fictional hero of the Most Interesting Man in the World Dos Equis beer campaign has a number of fanciful and fabricated talents
But in the real world, including in the open water swimming world, there are real heroes who display their talents on land and in the water. These are both men and women who literally play with jellyfish as Pádraig Mallon did out in the ocean [see above].
Mallon and his colleagues in the open water swimming world like Antonio Argüelles, Lewis Pugh, or Ger Kennedy, or Cameron Bellamy or Colin Hill, Henri Kaarma or Lewis Pugh, Paul Georgescu or Ned Denison or Petar Stoychev, or Ram Barkai, or Matías Ola are interesting men in the open water world would have outstanding talents and abilities; their characteristics would be superhuman in the advertising world, but they are in fact real-life heroes.
What can they do? What would they do in the Dos Equis advertising campaign?
Here is our guess:
Dolphins draft off them simply to keep their pace…
Sharks and orcas stay clear of their wake…
Their Speedos are considered to be a small watercraft; their feet propel as fast as large monofins…
Michael Phelps thought about retirement when they swam butterfly in the ocean…
Their kicking speed is measured in knots…
They can break open coconuts and clams with their bare hands…
Their wake creates 6-foot waves…
They munch on jellyfish as snack…
The word hypothermia is not in their dictionary…
Their sunscreen stays on for days in the water…
They don’t need a tow-in when swimming in big wave surf spots…
Their goggles can withstand the pressure of the depths of the Mariana Trench…
They do not consider ice swimming to be extreme…
They consider a crossing of the English Channel to be simply a good warm-up…
They kayak with their bare hands…
They breathe through gills…
Rainbows appear when they enter the water and exit the shoreline…
They can breach completely out of the water when they eggbeater…
They can swallow gel packs whole during their feedings…
Portuguese call them men o war…
Their marathon swims are measured in days…
They do flip turns on rock jetties…
They never need GPS to navigate…
Their breathe has a hint of seaweed…
They sleep on kelp beds…
Their tears are made of salt water…
Mermaids flock to them when they near the water and appeal for their attention…
They call the Oceans Seven a simple workout…
…they are among the most interesting men in the open water swimming world and are real-life heroes not unlike Jonathan Goldsmith seen below.
