Sophia Brunt is a 28-year-old British open water swimmer, primary school teacher, a former triathlete and competitive swimmer with the Wimbledon Dolphins Swimming Club, a STA swimming teacher, coach, and a member of the Serpentine Swimming Club.

She is active to say the least. But in the year of the pandemic, Brunt had to become creative in her preparations to attempt a crossing of the English Channel in September 2020. “I trained with The King’s Swimmers at Dover Harbour and Deal Beach. Due to COVID, I had to find all kinds of alternatives to keep fit and had to be quite mentally prepared for anything.”

Her training proved useful as she started her crossing at 10:30 pm with escort pilot Stuart Gleeson and swam through the night in challenging conditions as the weather turned creating tough conditions, finishing in 15 hours 15 minutes.
