Dennis Miller, President of the Oceania Swimming Association and FINA Bureau Member responsible for open water swimming, took the promotion of the 2010 Oceania Swimming Championships to a whole different level by arranging for four days of television coverage of the races in Samoa.
“I would like to thank the Australian Olympic Committee, Australian Sports Commission, the Oceania National Olympic Committees and FINA for their support in helping to promote the Championships,” said Dennis.
Daily edited 10-minute television news feeds helped promote the Championships where swimmers from Australia, Cook Islands, Fiji, Guam, Hawaii, Marshall Islands, New Caledonia, New Zealand, Northern Marianas, Palau, Papua New Guinea, Samoa and Tonga competed.
The video news releases on Intelsat 5 featured stories and highlights of four-day championships including interviews with athletes, coaches and officials, and were fed via satellite to broadcasters within the Pacific region.
Well done, a wonderful way to showcase the sport.
