The Sharkfest Swim Series got off to an unusual start in its 2010 season with a fogged-out swim at the Alcatraz kick-off swim last week.
While many of the swimmers were disappointed, the race organizers rightly cancelled the swim due to the lack of visibility.
“Even 100 yards from Alcatraz, we couldn’t see the island, the bridges, the City and most importantly and the destination,” said one of the swimmers.
The Lake Tahoe Sharkfest in Incline Village in Nevada is next on the schedule with its 1.2-mile swim on July 18th.
The 1-mile San Diego-Coronado Sharkfest in San Diego Bay will start at the San Diego Convention Center and finish at the foot of the Coronado Bridge on September 19th.
The Las Vegas Sharkfest in Lake Mead in Boulder City, Nevada is a 1-mile swim on October 16th.
The Minneapolis Sharkfest will be held Lake Calhoun in Minneapolis, Minnesota with additional Sharkfest Swims scheduled for Boston, Chicago and Charleston.
