60 pounds, many packs of cigarettes, and an unhealthy lifestyle long ago, Serbo Simeoni was told by his physician that changes were needed.
He got rid of the weight, cigarettes and unhealthy lifestyle – and got back into swimming. Big-time.
He has done 20 Bridges, S.C.A.R. Swim Challenge, Catalina Channel, Swim Around Charleston, Swim The Suck, Swim Around Lido Key, Tampa Bay Marathon Swim and many other open water and marathon swims since then. And he has more swims on his plate.
This week, he finished a 34.1 km crossing of Lake Tahoe on Friday in 11 hours 22 minutes, and then helped crew for his training mate Tommy Schwartz who finished the 10.5-mile widthwise Viking Swim crossing of Lake Tahoe today.
In today’s WOWSA Live interview, the 55-year-old attorney talks about his transformation, his Lake Tahoe swim with escort pilot Tom Linthicum, his time with Ned Denison at the Cork Distance Week, his respect for Kent Nicholas and Attila Mányoki at S.C.A.R. Swim Challenge, and his crewing for Schwartz’s 4 hour 53 minute crossing of Lake Tahoe from Cave Rock to Emerald Bay.
