Rostislav Vítek Wins International Winter Swimming World Championships 1K

Julien Zinsmeister of France shattered the International Winter Swimming World Championships 1000m age group record in Lake Bled, Slovenia in 12:40.43, breaking the existing record of 15:56.02 – and becoming one of the handful of swimmers worldwide to break the 13-minute barrier.
Zinsmeister even pushed Czech Olympian Rostislav Vítek who won the 1000m freestyle even overall in 12:38.37. Vítek is certainly versatile; he has long been a world-class pool swimming, marathon swimming, channel swimming, masters swimming, ice swimming, and – now – winter swimming athlete.
Rory Fitzgerald also shattered an IWSA age group world record in the 1000m in 15:00.99, completely shattering the existing record of 19:28.07.
