Rostislav Vítek, Magda Okurková Honored By Guinness World Records

Ram Barkai, the founder of the International Ice Swimming Association was present at the 2019 WOWSA Ocean Fest in Redondo Beach, California to accept Guinness World Record certificates on behalf of two ice swimming luminaries, Rostislav Vítek and Magda Okurková, both from the Czech Republic.
The Guinness World Record, as ratified by the International Ice Swimming Association, for the Fastest Ice Mile Swim by a Male was awarded to Vítek (Czech Republic), who swam in 20 minutes 29 seconds in Blansko, Czech Republic in 4.84°C water that broke the previous record held by James Bridges in 21:44.
The Guinness World Record, as ratified by the International Ice Swimming Association, for the Fastest Ice Mile Swim by a Female was awarded to Okurková in 24 minutes 5 seconds, set in December 2014 in Dun. Streda, Slovakia in 4.23°C water and 0°C air.
