Rethinking And Reshaping The City Via Open Water

Rethinking And Reshaping The City Via Open Water

Rachel Golub of Coney Island Brighton Beach Open Water Swimmers, shown on left in the white bikini only moments before she swam 6 miles in 38°F (4°C) water in the Beagle Channel, is getting ready to inform the City of New York and the Metropolitan Waterfront Alliance about the joys and opportunities of open water swimming.

New York City and the Waterfront Alliance have initiated a series of open public forums for the city’s Vision 2020 plan, a comprehensive plan for waterfront development over coming decades in New York City.

As Rachel says, “This is a wonderful opportunity for swimmers to raise our public profile. I hope to present open water swimming as the positive entity that it is, and as a force in rethinking urban spaces.”

Help lend Golub your hand and voice.
