Today, Rene Martínez Saenz of Mexico completed a 13 hour 37 minute crossing of the English Channel from England to France.

I did the crossing with the Channel Swimming & Piloting Federation on the Gallivant with Captain Michael Oram and Nora Toledano as my coach. I raised funds again for our NGO Pelagic Life for marine conservation.

It was an unparalleled experience to swim the channel and I am very happy to be advancing on my marathon swim experience and journey.”

In addition to his work with México Pelágico and shark conservation, Martínez completed the 14.4 km Los Cabos Challenge in 4 hours 22 minutes, the 10 km El Cruce in 2 hours 46 minutes, a Swim Across America Catalina Channel relay, the 7.9 km Pan-American Colibrí Swim in 3 hours 3 minutes. His first two legs of the Triple Crown included a 32.3 km crossing of the Catalina Channel from Santa Catalina Island to the Southern California mainland in 14 hours 26 minutes and placing fifth in the 45.9 km 20 Bridges Manhattan Island Swim in New York in 8 hours 59 minutes.
