Régent Lacoursière, l’homme de l’eau

Canada’s Régent Lacoursière was a professional marathon swimmer who was inducted in the International Marathon Swimming Hall of Fame in 1978 as an Honor Swimmer.
Lacoursière was ranked 5th in the 1964 World Professional Marathon Swimming Federation series, 7th in 1965, 5th in 1966, 2nd in 1967, and 3rd in 1968 competing in many different events including 7 times in the 24 Heures La Tuque, 11 times in the Atlantic City Around the Island Swim, and 15 times in the Traversée internationale du lac St-Jean in addition to competing for Canada in the 1954 Commonwealth Games and teaching swimming for over 40 years.
Lacoursière is, literally, l’homme de l’eau or The Man of the Water.
