Record Falls From Nevis To St. Kitts

Race director Winston Crooke had an Olympic gold medalist and an Olympic silver medalist enter his 4 km channel crossing between Nevis and St Kitts in the Caribbean – as well as a number of elite competitive swimmers from around the world.

With so many fast veteran athletes competing across the shortest, fastest, and most shallow channel race in the world, the existing course record of Olivier Marceau (58 minutes 9 seconds set in 2011) was bound to fall. In fact, the top four swimmers, 36-year-old Ashley Whitney (55:28), 49-year-old Gregory White (55:49), 29-year-old Keri-Anne Payne (56:17), and 36-year-old Kevin Pollman (57:16) all broke the record with room to spare at this year’s Nevis to St Kitts Cross Channel Swim.
