Romanian Avram Iancu continued on his scheduled 60-day stage swim of 2,860 km along the Danube River through Europe.
The 41-year-old librarian from Petrosani, Transylvania started his stage swim from Donaueschingen in the Black Forest in Germany. He is now heading into Day 19 as each day is a dynamically different replication of the day before.
Day 18 on July 7th
The day started off with torrential rain, but soon enough Iancu’s back was warmed by a blanket of sunshine in the afternoon. Boosted by the positive weather change and a lack of major obstacles in his way along the Danube, Iancu managed to beat his previous best for a single-day distance as he swam 45 km on this stage.
