Przemysław Gorczyca Doubles Up On Gold and World Records at the IISA 1st European Championship

Przemysław Gorczyca, a 34-year-old breaststroke specialist from Kiełpino, Poland cruised in the morning heats at the IISA 1st European Championship in Oradea, Romania in 4.07°C water.

But in the evening finals, Gorczyca let it out out, setting a new world record in both the 50m and 100m breaststroke events.

In the 50m, he broke the existing world record held by fellow Polish breaststroker Michal Perl in 31.83, swimming a 31.50.

In the 100m, he shattered the existing world record held by Michal Perl in 1:11.33, swimming a 1:09.07.

Lili May Mustoe, a 22-year-old British breaststroker [shown above on right], won the 50m race and finished second in the 100m to 43-year-old Melanie Hall.

Greece, Luxembourg, Romania, Ukraine, Armenia, Denmark, Hungary, Malta, Russia, Austria, Estonia, Iceland, Moldova, San Marino, Azerbaijan, Faroe Islands, Ireland, Monaco, Serbia, Belarus, Finland, Israel, Montenegro, Slovakia, Belgium, France, Italy, Isle of Man, Netherlands, Slovenia, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Georgia, Kosovo, North Macedonia, Spain, Bulgaria, Germany, Latvia, Norway, Sweden, Croatia, Gibraltar, Liechtenstein, Poland, and Switzerland participated in the Championship.
