Since 2009, Vanesa Garcia (40, Argentina, MSF bio here, @r.vanesa_garcia) has traveled from her native town of Santa Fe in Argentina to professional marathon swims around the world.
Among her swims, Garcia competed in the 2009, 2010, 2011, 2012, 2013, 2014, 2015, 2016, 2017, 2018, 2019, 2022, 2023 and 2025 editions of the 32 km Traversée internationale du lac St-Jean in Roberval, Québec, Canada.

This weekend, she will give an open water swimming clinic at Club de Regatas Santa Fe. During the clinic, she will cover key points such as preparation for open water swimming, technique for various bodies of water — river, ocean, or lake — hydration, and nutrition in addition to giving a motivational talk.
She explains, “Many ask me how I managed to swim so many marathon swims and what inspired me. I share my stories and focus on internal phrases that I use when competing. This clinic is for beginner swimmers, open water swimmers, and triathletes.”
