The Open Water Swim Club in Huntington Beach, California saw the urban runoff in the Pacific Ocean this morning and decided to do a pool workout due to the pollution in the coastal waterways.

Thinking of a non-linear training sessions, the team did a longer main set than usual.

Their choice was a challenging prime number-based set:

20 x 50 @ :40 with each prime number swum fast (2nd 50, 3rd 50, 5th 50, 7th 50, 11th 50, 13th 50, 17th 50, 19th 50) and the other 50s swum comfortably

20 x 100 @ 1:20 with each prime number fast (2, 3, 5, 7, 11, 13, 17, 19)

20 x 200 @ 2:40 with each prime number fast (2, 3, 5, 7, 11, 13, 17, 19)

The warm-down was the equivalent of π (pi) or 314 yards for a total of 7,314 yards.

Other prime-number pool workouts are posted here with an explanation why this can be beneficial. The article also includes other sets such as Hit the Primes, Beat the Primes, and the Prime Number Ladder.
