Pre-dawn Swimming In Seal Beach

International Marathon Swimming Hall of Fame honorees Cindy Cleveland, Lynne Cox and Penny Dean, and their open water coach Siga Rose trained in Seal Beach, California since they emerged in the channel swimming community in the 1970’s.

Site of 50 editions of the annual Seal Beach Rough Water Swim held since 1969, Seal Beach is also the early morning training grounds for oh-so-laid-back-but-hard-core pod of Sea Monkeys.

Started by a local Navy SEAL, the Sea Monkeys all just got together years ago and have enjoyed swimming in the tranquil pre-dawn darkness ever since.
