One of the sponsors of the Santorini Experience held on Santorini Island is PHEE, a company from Patras, Greece that creates products made from seagrass and biological resins and is making a positive impact on the planet’s ecosystem that desperately needs help.

PHEE uses Posidonia Oceanica, a seagrass species found in the Mediterranean Sea and one of the oldest living organisms found on Earth. It is washes up in abundance on the Mediterranean shores and is disposed as waste. However, after years of research and development, PHEE has found a proprietary process to utilize the seagrass as a primary raw material.

One of the first applications of the combination Posidonia Oceanica and biological resins was the patented creation of PHEE-board, a highly aesthetic cellulose-based material that can be used to develop other products such as furniture, accessories (e.g., iphone cases, Samsung cases, iPad cases, racquets, sunglasses, packaging), and interior decorations.

Additionally, the Posidonia Oceanica has a very high carbon absorption capacity and is able to soak up 15 times more carbon dioxide every year than a similar sized piece from the Amazon rainforest.
