Peter Hayden’s Lollipop Honored By Marathon Swimmers

Peter Hayden was awarded the Yudovin Award for Most Adventurous Swim by the Marathon Swimmers Federation.

On September 3rd 2014, Hayden combined two swims into one: an unprecedented circumnavigation swim and a channel swim that was referred to as a lollipop swim.

Hayden became the first person to swim around Anacapa Island in a time of 5 hours 41 minutes. Then, without stopping, he continued swimming as he swim away from the island to the California mainland. He walked ashore at Port Hueneme 6 hours 59 minutes later.

His crew consisted of his wife Carol Hayden, Howard Burns, Marc Horwitz, Patsee Ober and Julie Flanagan, Captain Dawn Brooks, and observers Theo Schmeeckle and Lynn Kubasek.
