While there is no 10 km marathon swim conducted at the 2024 Paris Paralympic Games, the para athletes will still compete in the Seine for the para triathlon on this Sunday, September 1st.
The Seine is still flowing fast, although the river currents are running slower than during the Olympic 10K Marathon Swim. If there will be on rainfall over the next few days, the race should go according to plan.
This morning in Paris, representatives of World Triathlon, the 2024 Paris Olympic & Paralympic Organizing Committee, and the French authorities involved in monitoring the conditions of the Seine, a revised schedule and other details for the Para triathlon were announced.
All eleven Para triathlon medal events will be held on September 1st, instead of across two days, on September 1st and 2nd as originally planned. This decision has been taken to provide athletes and coaches with as much certainty as possible. The latest weather forecast provided by Météo France indicates high level of uncertainty for the upcoming days, which could have an impact on the conditions of the Seine. The course of the swim portion remains unchanged. All the races will be broadcasted live, as initially planned for both competition days.
The organizers will continue their daily monitoring of water quality and the flow of the current. After today’s successful swim familiarization opportunity, a decision was made to offer similar swims on August 30th and 31st. The contingency days for all medal events remain September 2nd and 3rd.

The police and security presence remains significant, although there are many more Parisians and visitors in Paris compared to the Olympic two weeks ago.
