Turkish swimmer Deniz Kayadelen knows about being cold, stressed, and out of her comfort zone. She was part of Out of our Comfort Zone, a four-person relay across the English Channel in August 2019 with Raha Akhavan-Tabatabaei, Emre Deliveli, and Ayse Yasemin Bagana.
She also participated in the 91.27 km Peace Route Swim, a 9-person relay swim between Girne on the north coast of Cyprus to Mersin in Turkey on World Peace Day together with Erman Akkaya, Temel Yaki, Boran Karataş, Emin Aydin Yağmurlu, Mustafa Şakir Başaran, Mehmet Hilmi Soylu, Zafer Özdem, Pelin Çelik, Nukhet Atilgan, Burçak Tümay Pekel, and Murat Meto in September 2020. The relay was nominated for the 2020 World Open Water Swimming Performance of the Year, taking 37 hours 30 minutes to reach the mainland of Turkey.
The German resident recently launched a book in English: Out of Comfort Zone: Cutting Edge Business Lessons Based on Sports Psychology from the Experience of an Extreme Swimmer.
