Ron Levy took this photo of Daniel Slosberg on his 19 hour 32 minute two-way Catalina Channel crossing in 1978. “The photo shows me and one of my paddlers nearing the end of the Catalina double in the summer of 1978,” recalled Daniel. “It wasn’t until about this point – when I began making out the paths on the cliffs – that I knew I would finish the swim. Also, the photo gives you a sense of the expanse of water that we crossed. My paddler Jeff was a wonderfully upbeat member of the crew. Jeff and I worked together as lifeguards at Huntington State Beach, so he was also handy to have along safety-wise.”
