Olympians Expanding From Pool To The Open Water

Stephanie Horner, three-time Olympian shown on left, will represent Canada in open water swimming at the 2018 Pan Pacific Swimming Championships held in Chiba, Japan. Another pool Olympian, two-time medalist Jazz Carlin, will represent Great Britain at the European Championships in Loch Lomond this summer.

1500m Olympic gold medalist Gregorio Paltrinieri from Italy is also venturing into the highest echelon of the open water world.

With a warm, flat-water course expected for the 2020 Tokyo Olympic Games, it makes sense that fast pool swimmers are expanding their resumes to include the relatively friendly confines of tranquil open water courses over this Olympic quadrennial.
