147 of the world’s best open water swimmers from 30 countries will be competing in the 2010 World Open Water Swimming Championships in Lac St-Jean in Roberval, Quebec, Canada from July 15-23.
Including FINA delegates, officials and other guests included, 43 countries will watch the women’s 10K on July 17th, men’s 10K on July 18th, men’s and women’s 5K on July 20th and the men’s and women’s 25K on July 22nd.
France, Italy, Russia and the USA are sending the largest delegations with 12 swimmers each.
Canada has 10 athletes, Australia, Great Britain and Germany have 8, Spain 7, Mexico 6, Brazil, the Czech Republic and Ukraine 5, Argentina, China, Croatia and Greece 4, Azerbaijan, Belgium and Ecuador 3, Slovakia and United Arab Emirates 2, and Bulgaria, Israel, the Netherlands, New Zealand, Poland, Portugal, Slovenia and Syria all with 1 swimmer each.
The swimmers will compete on a 2.5K rectangular course between the Place Hydro‐Québec Roberval and the Roberval Marina, near the shore and breakwater with unobstructured views of the entire circuit for spectators and the media.
