Now It is His Turn: Dr. Tapan Kumar Panigrahi Swimming 81 km

Dr. Tapan Kumar Panigrahi coached Sayani Das across the 14.4 km Strait of Gibraltar from Spain to Morocco in 3 hours 51 minutes in a tandem swim with Ryan Utsumi to complete her sixth Oceans Seven channel crossing.

He has coached many others in the pool and open water over the decades. Now it is his turn.

He is ready to go on his own swim at the 81 km 79th India National Open Water Swimming Competition held in the River Bhagirathi  on August 31st. The race features two downstream distances: 81 km and 19 km.

The annual India National Open Water Swimming Competition is one of the world’s longest open water swimming competitions. It is among the Top 50 Open Water Swims In Asia and the World’s Top 100 Open Water Swims, organized every year by Murshidabad Swimming Association since 1943.
