In is most likely the most unusual accommodation for an open water swimming anywhere, the size of the Waikiki Roughwater Swim has led Atlantis Submarine to temporarily suspend its tours off the shores of Waikiki during tomorrow’s 2.4-mile race on Oahu.

While the Australians have completely dominated the awards podium in the recent races, some knowledgeable pool swimmers will be eyeing the placing of Kosuke Kitajima, the six-time Olympic medalist from Japan, who is entered in the race.

Race director Kaia Hedlund says, “We are ready to go for the 46th Annual Waikiki Roughwater Swim. It has been exciting with all of this weather, but as for now we are moving full speed ahead. We have 820 swimmers entered which is a little low but expected.”
