Nejib Belhedi will do a marathon swim shortly after emerging from the lockdown.
At nearly 69 years old (68 years 11 months 26 days), he will attempt a 40 km sea swim from Big Kuriat Island to BouJaafer Beach in Sousse City sometime between July 17th and 19th depending on the conditions.
Belhedi explained, “Our departure will be around 4 am and we expect to arrive around 6 pm – an estimated 14-hour swim. Even in the best weather conditions, I will confront a lateral current with strong winds and waves from midday until the rest of the afternoon. It will be a big event in Sousse City after the COVID-19 lockdown to promote tourism in Sousse and in Tunisia.”
Belhedi will be supported by the Governor of Sousse, Madam Raja Trabelsi and the Tourism Commissary of Sousse Toufik Gaied, the Tunisian Coast Guard and Civil Protection Unit Sousse.
