Music To The Ears Of Channel Swimmers

Courtesy of WOWSA, Huntington Beach, California.

When Captain Greg Elliot starts to play his bagpipes, it is truly music to the ears of the swimmers and crew who he escorts across the Catalina Channel.

Captain Elliot is an escort pilot for the Catalina Channel Swimming Federation, escorting dozens of channel swimmers and relays between Santa Catalina Island and the Southern California coast on his escort boat, the Bottom Scratcher.

The captain escorts swimmers on his Bottom Scratcher, a dive boat that doubles as a comfortable mother ship for channel crossings.
