Another “impossible” waterway has been crossed. But it took another North Channel swimmer, Colleen Blair from Aberfeldy, Scotland to do it.
The 8-mile Pentland Firth runs from Hoy to Scarfskerry and was crossed in 4 hours and 41 minutes by the 33-year-old adventurer who has also crossed the English Channel and North Channel as well as circumnavigated the Jersey and Manhattan Island. Despite its reputation of being a graveyard of ships due to its location where the Atlantic Ocean meets the North Sea, Colleen never sank or submerged. She simply swam on.
