The International Marathon Swimming Hall of Fame awarded its Certificate of Merit to the aQuelle Midmar Mile for its 38 years of innovative and outstanding event management. From a simple start in 1973 with 153 competitors, Wayne Ridden and his army of volunteers and staff have created one of the world’s most spectacular open water swimming extravaganzas, a model of excellence and growth.
