Mexican National Team Named For World Championships

As the Northern Hemisphere ambles into summer, 2008 Olympian Luis Escobar and Alejandra González won the Mexican national 10K championships in beautiful Puerto Vallarta.

Luis won in 2:11:23, seven seconds ahead of Rodrigo Elorza and 90 seconds ahead of Ivan Lopez (shown on left).

Luis declined the opportunity to represent Mexico at the 2010 World Open Water Swimming Championships in Canada in order to compete in the Central American and Caribbean Games in Puerto Rico.

Alejandra won in 2:20:01, four seconds faster than second-place Zaira Cardenas and Odette Saldivar who finished in 20:20:44.82.

The final swimmers who will represent Mexico at the World Open Water Swimming Championships include: Manuel Chiu (5K), Rodrigo Elorza (10K), Iván López (10K), Zaira Cárdenas (10K), Alejandra González (10K) and Odette Saldivar (5K).
