Memphremagog Winter Swimming Society Formed

The Memphremagog Winter Swimming Society was formed on April 17th by Phil White of the Kingdom Games. “Our purpose is simple: to build on and improve on the success of this past February’s inaugural winter swim on Lake Memphremagog and to assure the continuation of winter swimming at this wonderful venue. The Memphremagog Winter Swimming Championships will be held next year on February 27th and 28th 2016 and will be hosted by Kingdom Games and The EastSide Restaurant.

Special thanks goes Greg O’Connor, Janet Kylander Manning, Elaine Kornbau Howley, Helen Lin, Amanda Hunt, Charlotte Brynn, Rena Demeo, and Sarah Watson.

We appreciate the help and support of the U.S. Winter Swimming Association and the International Winter Swimming Association during our inaugural swim. We could not have done it without their technical expertise, experienced guidance, and hands-on support. However, we always expected that the site of the USA Championship would move to another venue as we all pursue the shared goal of expanding the opportunities for winter swimming in the United States and North America. We learned a lot this first year and are already well on our way planning for next year’s swim.

On line registration will officially open on July 1st. Until then, those who participated in this year’s swim have been given the first opportunity to register and return next year. The 41 Pioneers were just that and more.
