At a gala dinner in Melbourne, Australia, 2-time Olympian Melissa Gorman who won several open water swims throughout the year including nearly upsetting all the elite men at the 2012 RCP Tiburon Mile in San Francisco Bay received Swimming Australia’s Open Water Swimmer of the Year award.

Trent Grimsey was acknowledged for his world record in the English Channel and for his 2012 FINA Open Water Swimming Grand Prix title.

Ken Wood, coach of Gorman, received the Open Water Coach of the Year award. Ky Hurst and Gorman were recognized as members of the Australian International All-Star Team.
