Matheus Evangelista will be the only Brazilian swimmer competing in the 57 km Maratón Acuática Internacional Santa Fe – Coronda in Río Coronda in Argentina on February 3rd. He finished 10th in the 2014 event and 5th in the 2017 race.

For me it is a great joy to always be in Santa Fe because it always warmly welcomes me.

I have many friends there. It was where I competed internationally for the first time in the South American Youth Games where I finished second. So to swim in Santa Fe with so many memories is very special,” said Evangelista.

For this year’s race, I am in very good shape. Last year, I focused a lot on the 10 km races where there were many races in Brazil where I finished third overall. I also competed on the FINA World Cup in a very competitive year.

I did not go on vacation and I kept training thinking about this race. So I am excited for a good race. I really like the 10 km distance for the Olympics, but I also like to do long races, both here and in Rosario [the 15 km Maratón Acuática Internacional Ciudad de Rosario.”
