Marty Filipowski completed the 100th crossing in history [by 89 individuals] of the Cook Strait in New Zealand.
Escorted by Philip Rush, the 53-year-old swam from the North Island to South Island in 9 hours 6 minutes and completed his third Oceans Seven channel (including the English Channel and Catalina Channel).
Rush estimates that around 500 people have attempted a crossing of the Cook Strait over the course of history.
