Marcos Díaz returned to New York City, for another international humanitarian effort on behalf of the United Nations.
Díaz participated in discussions, meetings, proposals and decision-making by the Global Foundation for Democracy and Development last week. Together with Bonian Golmohammadi, the Secretary-General of the World Federation of United Nations Associations, Natasha Despotovic, Executive Director of the Global Foundation for Democracy and Development, the group tackled the issues facing the Millennium Development Goals.
One of the United Nations’ Millenium Development Goals is Environmental Sustainability and creating awareness to keep the world’s ocean and coastlines clean.
Díaz will be honored at the 2012 Global Open Water Swimming Conference as an Honour Swimmer in the International Marathon Swimming Hall of Fame induction ceremonies on the Queen Mary in September.
