Marc Newman Reminisces About Swimming On WOWSA Live

Police officer, coach and administer Marc Newman talked about his channel and marathon swimming career with International Marathon Swimming Hall of Fame chairperson Ned Denison in today’ edition of WOWSA Live.
The International Marathon Swimming Hall of Fame Honor Swimmer talked about the following in his interview:
* serving as a companion swimmer for Samantha Druce, the youngest female English Channel swimmer who completed the English Channel in 15 hours 47 minutes
* being coached by Tom Watch
* being stopped by the French while on a record-setting pace during an 1985 English Channel crossing
* winning the international championship in Windermere in 1986
* winning the 32 Traversee international du lac St-Jean twice and competing on the World Professional Marathon Swimming Federation circuit
* racing in the Czech Republic, in the Nile River, in Italy and Yugoslavia
* remaining an amateur in order to continue representing Great Britain
* meeting his wife during her English Channel training
* swimming 26 mile from Dungeness to Cap Gris Nez in 16 hours 9 minutes
* recalling how Tom Watch was rowing across the English Channel with a compass on his lap
* participating in a parade before the Canadian professional marathon swims
