Loren King (57, Canada, MSF bio here) aborted his earlier Molokai Channel crossing, but he was not to be turned back today (April 22nd 2026) on his Molokai Channel crossing – even if he did cross paths with a shark in mid-channel.

Not only did the co-founder the Great Lakes Trust and the GLOW open water adventures with Madhu Nagaraja successfully cross from Oahu to Molokai, but he also set the course record in 13 hours 18 minutes under the escort of Captain Jamie Barlow and navigator Dr. Steven Minaglia. The record crossing was nearly the reverse of the Molokai-to-Oahu record crossing by Andreas Waschburger back in October 2024.
