“At the opening event of the Mountain Swim Series, Laura Aquilina swam pulling her rescue Rottweiler, Brutus of Better Paws for Brutus, in a raft. She raised money for Athletes in Tandem through Crowdfunding. Brutus previously suffered frostbite and his last owners chopped off all four of his paws,” explained race director Geoff Hawksworth.
“In addition to Laura and Brutus, there were a number of professional triathletes and swimmers, as well as many age groups triathletes, masters swimmers and recreational athletes who participated in our first event on the 2016 Mountain Swim Series.
The June 4th event was held in Boyd Lake State Park. The next event will be the Solstice Swim on June 25th.“
