24-year-old Katelyn Kidney won her first major race at the 8-mile Boston Light Swim.

Race director Elaine Howley said, “For the second year in a row, we had a 100% completion rate. We had about the best conditions we’ve ever had out there: flat calm, almost no wind for the first couple hours, and an exquisite sunrise. Water temps were 65°F at the lighthouse rising to 67°F mid-course, and a shockingly warm 70°F in the last couple miles.

The last relay finished moments before a massive rain storm rolled in. It was a great day all around with great conditions were great – and everything came together for 57-year-old Bill Shipp who won overall, finishing in 2 hours 49 minutes.”
